The Weight of the Harvest: Stewarding Blessings and Praising in the Drought

Rest your feet for 5 minutes and read this soul food !

In the digital wilderness, we spend a lot of time praying for rain to end the drought . We ask God for breakthrough, for provision, for open doors, and for peace. But there is a vital conversation we often miss: what do we do when the harvest actually comes? And conversely, how do we keep our song when the drought inevitably returns?

True discipleship requires a profound spiritual balance. It demands that we learn how to carry the weight of a blessing without letting it become an idol, while simultaneously learning how to anchor our hearts in gratitude when the bottom falls out.

The Stewardship of the Blessing

A blessing is not just a gift; it is a responsibility. Whether God has blessed you with a thriving business, a peaceful home, newfound influence, or financial stability, you are called to be a steward, not just a consumer.

When we hoard our blessings, use them solely for our own comfort, or allow them to feed our pride, we lose the very purpose for which they were given. God equips us so that we can equip others. Jesus made the standard for stewardship incredibly clear:

"When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required."Luke 12:48 (NLT)

Being a good steward means keeping your hands open. It means actively asking God, "How can I use this to build Your kingdom, serve Your people, and bring You glory?"

The Sacrifice of Praise in the Wilderness

But what happens when the season changes? What happens when the blessing feels distant, the transition is painful, and you are staring down the barrel of a hard time?

The culture of the world tells us to complain, to grow cynical, and to turn inward when life gets difficult. But as believers, we operate on a different frequency. We are called to praise God not just for what He does, but for who He is. When your world is shaking, worship is no longer a spontaneous reaction to good news—it becomes a deliberate, structural choice.

"Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name."Hebrews 13:15 (NLT)

Notice the word sacrifice. Praise is a sacrifice when it costs you something. It is a sacrifice when your heart is broken, your anxiety is loud, and your flesh wants to panic, but you choose to lift your hands anyway.

The Anchor of Gratitude

Gratitude is the great equalizer. It keeps you humble on the mountaintop, and it keeps you hopeful in the valley. Paul the Apostle, a man who survived shipwrecks, imprisonments, and beatings, wrote this defining command to the early church:

"Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)

He didn't say be thankful for the tragedy; he said be thankful in the circumstance. Even in the hardest moments, you have a Strong Tower. You have a Savior who conquered the grave. That alone is worth a hallelujah. Hold your blessings loosely, steward them fiercely, and let your praise be the anchor that holds you steady through the storm.
